One type of square cake pan that is sometimes overlooked is the square mini cake pan. Square mini cake pans can be used to make small individual cakes or can be used as part of a layer cake.

Mini cake pans can provide a fun way to bake cakes. I usually think of mini cake pans as being the basic shapes such as round, rectangular, square or bundt, but actually there are also a lot of mini character cake pans available as well. Some of these are cupcake size and some are a little larger.
