Cake Pans 101

Round cake pans come in a variety of sizes, which makes them very versatile. You can make a round cake in almost any size or you can use the various sizes to construct a cake with several layers, each one progressively smaller than the other.

Round cake pans are measured from the inside edge of the pan diagonally to the other side, so an 8 inch round cake pan would be 8 inches across from inside edge to inside edge. Eight inch round pans come in different depths as well.
